Home Owner Information Session–July 15th, 7 P.M.

Ever thought about owning your own home?

You may qualify to partner with Habitat to own your own home. You must live or work in York County, have a need for decent housing, earn an income between 30-60% of the area average income and be willing to partner with our organization. To receive an application for home ownership, all prospective home owners must attend a one hour information session to learn how our program works and the additional steps to qualify.

Home Ownership Information Sessions are held monthly at the Habitat office located at 825 N. Anderson Road in Rock Hill. Our next meeting will be held Monday, July 15th at 7 PM.

Tiaras and Toolboxes Fundraising Gala 2013

Join us for an exciting evening at our 2013 Tiaras and Toolboxes Fundraising Gala on September 26th!  The proceeds for this event will go to support the Habitat for Humanity of York County Women Build.  This year the Women Build will be a “Recycle” of a home in Clover in partnership with the Vang Moau Family.

We will begin posting Live and Silent Auction Items in August!  There are already a number of wonderful items that have been donated by gracious supporters!  Not only will you enjoy friendly bidding against your neighbor for that family outing that you were eying, guests will also enjoy hors d’ouevres, music, the debut of our 2013 HFHYC Video, and will be blessed by words from our Vang Moau Family and volunteers.

Habitat for Humanity of York County joins $6.8 million national homebuilding effort in 2013

ROCK HILL, S.C.  (Dec. 20, 2012) –Habitat for Humanity of York County has been awarded $49,622 for the construction of a new home in Rock Hill.

The grant provides 50% of the cost of construction, and was given to Habitat for Humanity of York County by Thrivent Builds with Habitat for Humanity, a unique partnership between Thrivent Financial for Lutherans and Habitat for Humanity International.

Habitat for Humanity of York County was given the award in conjunction with an announcement of a national gift made by Thrivent Financial on Dec. 17, 2012. The 2013 commitment from the organization is $6.8 million and will push the total giving from Thrivent Financial past $180 million, during the eight-year partnership between the two organizations.

Habitat for Humanity’s relationship with Thrivent Financial brings the financial, volunteer and advocacy resources of Thrivent Financial together with the affordable housing construction leadership of hundreds of local Habitat for Humanity affiliates. To date, volunteers have donated more than 3.5 million hours to construct 1,922 homes in the U.S.

The 2013 commitment will fund the construction and rehabilitation of 113 Habitat for Humanity homes in 31 states, including the home built by Habitat of York County in Rock Hill. Locally, the East regional field office of Thrivent Financial will supply member and employee volunteers.
