Join a Commitee
Family Selection - Review applications for housing, interview and visit applicant families, and select families for Habitat houses. Family Nurturing - Welcome new families to the Habitat partnership, provide support as they take on the responsibilities of homeownership; serve as the primary liaison between the affiliate and the homeowner families. Fundraising - Plan fundraising activities and events in accordance with budget needs and Board directions; work with the PR committee to publicize events, carry out event. Volunteer Coordination - Arrange for individuals or groups to assist in house construction. Arrange for meals for the construction site. Church Relations - Establish relationships with churches in York County, recruit church sponsorship, volunteers, and funding support. Public Relations - Prepare news releases and public announcements. Publish a newsletter and coordinate all media coverage and special events to get the Habitat message out to the public. Construction - Plan and carry out construction, arrange for permits, inspections, and appraisals. Recruit skilled volunteers, seek support from the construction industry and solicit donations of building materials/services. Land Acquisition - Target the areas in the community where Habitat can develop and work, solicit donations of property, identify and recommend property for acquisition to the Board.
